Description

Fresh Figs & Gourmet Products: Naturally Local Real Foods - Curra Creek Figs & Fine Foods

Located at Curra Creek in central west NSW, we practise regenerative agriculture, growing figs naturally without herbicides, pesticides or synthetic fertilisers. Improving soil health, biodiversity and soil carbon are central to our whole farm practices. Healthy soils grow nutrition-packed produce, enhancing human health and our shared environment. Hot summers provide perfect conditions for figs. 350 orchard trees include a range of fig varieties; black genoa, brown turkish, green, mission and white adriatic. There are 2 Curra Creek fig harvests per year: first in mid-December when the smaller 'breba' crop matures on last season's wood. The 2nd main crop on new wood is from mid-January through Figuary and March, sometimes extending into April, depending on the season. Figs are harvested in the cool evening, and brought fresh early next morning to weekly local farmers markets (for detail see market links on this page). We grow and sell fresh garlic, as well as select in-season vegetables. Single-source honey is harvested from our small farm apiary beside the creek. Our bees also provide important pollination services for farm production. A range of gourmet fig products is made on-farm year round, including fig jams, fig paste and fig chutney. Other own-grown fruit and veggie gourmet products are made in season throughout the year (jams, pastes, chutney, relish, pickles). Our products maximise fruit/veg/herb/spice ingredient flavours by reducing sugar content and have no added water, gums or thickening agents. All our products are gluten-free.
