About Lake Manchester Lake Manchester was originally constructed in 1916, making it one of the regions earliest dams, and was upgraded in 2008 to increase its storage capacity. It is an un-gated dam, meaning that when it reaches 100 per cent capacity, water flows over the spillway and safely out of the dam.
