WONGALEA ANGUS - Bruce & Vivienne Beaumont

Wongalea was selected by Bruce�s Father Stanley Beaumont in March of 1927, he was 17 years old and began the task of turning 300 acres of virgin scrub into a farm. His equipment was 2 axes, 1 brush hook and 2 falling boards and a tent to sleep in. He started by clearing the vines etc with the brush hook, then felled the small trees and ring barked the big trees, then he burnt the whole paddock and sowed grass seed on the burnt ground. After this he began to clear a place to build on. He worked 6 months on the farm and the next 6 months in a mill at Briggsvale to make enough money to live on
